Description

The Conservatory in Alexandra Park, Oldham, dates from around 1905. It features brick plinth walls topped with timber and glass. The structure consists of three pavilions arranged in a symmetrical layout. The large central pavilion has paired doors with console brackets supporting an entablature, flanked by three windows on each side, and continuous small paned glazing above. The hipped roof is topped with a lantern that has a domed roof over decorative lights, which are capped at each end by weather vanes connected by brattishing. The flanking pavilions are square in plan, each with side entrances accessed by steps, and have pyramidal roofs over their lanterns, which are topped with finials.
