Description
Lane View is a house dated 1749, as indicated by the datestone "TSAS 1749" (Thomas Shaw). It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a slate roof. The building features a two-bay, two-storey central entrance design, with a wing at the rear and a 20th-century garage extension to the right. The central entrance has a square-cut door surround that was restored in 1904, which also included the addition of a bay window to the right. There are two four-light windows in bay 1 and a five-light window on the first floor in bay 2, all featuring recessed cavetto-moulded stone mullions. Additional architectural details include stone quoins, a projecting plinth, eaves gutter brackets, and gable stacks.
