Description
Valenciennes Farmhouse, cottage, and adjoining barn is a late 18th-century building located on Knarr Barn Lane in Saddleworth. The structure is constructed from hammer-dressed watershot stone and features a graduated stone slate roof. It consists of three bays and two storeys. Both the farmhouse and cottage have doors with square-cut stone surrounds. The farmhouse has ground floor windows with four and six lights, and first floor windows with four and seven lights. The cottage, which was built later, has three and four-light windows. All windows are fitted with recessed flat-faced stone mullions. The building has two ridge chimney stacks, blocked windows in the gable, and a taking-in door at the rear. The barn includes a segmental-headed cart entry and an opposed winnowing door.
