Description

Ladybarn Cottage is a cottage and workshop, now separate properties, dating from the early to mid 19th century and has undergone alterations. It is constructed of red brick in stretcher bond and features a three-span slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan that runs at right angles to the street.

The two-storey, three-bay front range has an asymmetrical design with two first-floor windows. The wide round-headed central doorway is flanked by renewed wooden pilasters and features a panelled door with a plain semi-circular fanlight above. There is a small 16-pane sash window above the doorway and a 12-pane sash window on each floor to the left, with the ground floor window being segmental-headed. The right side of the front wall has no windows, as this area is now part of the workshop at the rear. A chimney is located at the left gable.

On the right-hand return side, which is formed by three gabled ends, there is a wooden canted bay window on the first floor that is now damaged. Above this bay window is a former window that has been replaced with a boarded door. Various other windows include a damaged 16-pane sash, with most of the others now boarded up, and there is also an inserted garage doorway. The rear left corner of the building is attached to No.132. The interior of the house has been altered, with the communication between the entrance hall and the former front right room now blocked. The property is included for its group value.
