Silk mill, now various workshops. Early to mid C19; altered. Brown brick (now rendered at ground floor) with some sandstone dressings (roof not visible). Rectangular plan with projecting stair-turret at south-east corner and projecting tower (dust flue?) near west end. Six storeys and 7 windows, with tower between 2nd and 3rd; round-headed doorway in re-entrant wall of stair-turret, otherwise most ground-floor openings altered; segmental-headed windows with raised sills; narrow rectangular full-height tower between 2nd and 3rd windows, with diamond-pattern breathers (as found in agricultural buildings) on 4 levels. Interior not inspected. Forms part of impressive and evocative group of former mill buildings lining Ashton Canal in this locality.
