Description

The building is a cotton spinning mill, now used as offices, dating from the early 19th century and has been altered. It is constructed of brown brick in Flemish bond with some sandstone dressings, and the roof is concealed by a parapet. The mill has a rectangular plan and stands five storeys tall, with a basement and attic. There are thirteen windows facing Cambridge Street, and a square stair-turret is attached between the eighth and ninth windows, featuring a doorway at its base. An additional doorway has been inserted in the tenth bay. The windows are segmental-headed with arched brick heads, though all have altered glazing. The building has a coped parapet. The gable end facing Chester Street has five windows and a central doorway, with similar windows including one at attic level. The interior now features suspended ceilings, but the construction is likely of a fireproof type.
