Description
This is a detached chimney stack for a cotton mill, likely built in the early 19th century. It is constructed of brown brick in English garden wall bond and has an octagonal shape that tapers as it rises, topped with a stone cornice. Near the top, there are three metal straps, and a full-height ladder was attached to the west side during a survey in 1989. The chimney is said to have been built for Chorlton New Mill, which is located on the opposite side of Cambridge Street, and it was connected to the mill by an underground flue.
