Description

This pair of stone piers is located at the forecourt of number 494, known as Cine City, on Wilmslow Road in Withington. Likely built in 1881, the piers are made of dressed stone and have been colourwashed. They feature broad cylindrical shapes with a base, an upper band, chamfered tops, and ball finials. The piers are set on a continuous dwarf wall that has chamfered angles and was originally intended for railings. This structure forms a group with number 496, the Withington Ale House, and two additional pairs of piers at its forecourt.
