Description
No. 78 on Barrow Bridge Road is a house built around 1831, with some alterations. It is constructed from coursed and squared stone and features a hipped slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window range, with a central entrance that is set within an added porch. The flanking windows have been renewed but remain in their original openings, featuring wedge lintels. The casement windows, likely from around 1930, include leaded lights and some stained glass. Gable chimneys are present on the roof. Although the interior was not inspected, this house is part of the model village of Barrow Bridge, which was established in 1831 by Robert Gardner to serve the nearby Dean Mills, which he also constructed.
