Description
Rose Cottage is a house built around 1830, with some alterations. It is constructed from coursed and squared stone and features a hipped slate roof. The building has a square double fronted plan with single-storey side wings.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a three-window range with a central entrance. The entrance includes an eight-panelled door, which has been renewed, and a traceried fanlight set in a moulded architrave. The windows have wedge lintels, and the original sashes have been replaced with pivoting windows. There is a side-wall chimney on the right and paired gutter brackets. Each side has a single-storey, one-window extension with a hipped roof.
The interior has not been inspected. Rose Cottage is part of the model village of Barrow Bridge, which was established in 1831 by Robert Gardner to serve the new Dean Mills that he also built.
