Pair of houses. c1831 altered. Coursed and squared stone with hipped slate roofs. EXTERIOR AND PLAN: 2 storeys, 6-window range comprising pair of 2-unit dwellings. Doorway to No.79 to right, inserted or renewed, with side-lights to door. No.80 has side entrance in added porch, built in angle of rear wing, itself also probably added against an earlier wing. Windows throughout have painted wedge lintels, some 12-pane sashes surviving in No.79, the rest renewed. One chimney to rear of ridge, and one at each end. INTERIOR: not inspected. The houses form part of the model village of Barrow Bridge, established in 1831 by Robert Gardner to serve the nearby Dean Mills, which he also built.
