Description
Howarth Fold Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with a later addition. It is constructed of dressed stone and features both stone slate and slate roofs, forming an L-shaped plan and standing two storeys high.
The northern wing contains two original double-chamfered-mullioned windows; the ground floor window has five lights and a label mould, while the first floor window has three lights with an additional light to the right. Much of this wing is obscured by ivy, but there are blocked fire windows flanking the gable end. The southern wing has later casement windows and an external stair. Inside, the farmhouse features chamfered beams. The entrance, which has a cambered head, is located in the wall between the two wings, and there is a timber-framed partition wall in the south wing. The building also has gable-end and cross-axial stacks.
