Description

The Old Post Office is a building that was originally a school and is now a house, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of squared coursed sandstone and features a stone slate roof. The building has a central entrance plan and is two storeys high with three bays. The entrance includes a modern six-panel door set within a plain pilastered surround and a pedimented head, topped with a fanlight. The windows are four-light replacement sashes. The roof has a shallow pitch and includes a stone ridge stack, although a second stack has been removed. It is noted that the schoolhouse was built in 1807.
