Description
This is a barn located to the northwest of Lea Gate Farmhouse, dated 1729 with later extensions. It is constructed from water-shot stone with quoins and features a stone slate roof. The barn has three main bays, with an additional bay added to the west and a 19th-century extension to the south.
On the north facade, there is a blocked entrance with a timber lintel and ventilation slots. The south facade includes a larger entrance, also blocked, with a 19th-century extension to the left and a cow house under a cat-slide roof to the right. The west gable end has two round-headed windows and a pitching eye. The east gable end features two blocked entrances with large lintels, ventilation slots, and a plaque with a bolection-moulded architrave. The plaque bears the inscription "ARTHUR ELLIS/BROMELLE 1729" along with a quotation that is likely from the Bible, adorned with decorative capitals and a cherub below.
