Description

This milestone, located on Golborne Road in Winwick, is a late 19th-century stone structure that has been whitewashed. It features a triangular shape with a downward sloping top. The lettering on the milestone indicates 'WINWICK' at the top, 'WIGAN 9 MILES' on the left side, and 'WARRINGTON 3 MILES' on the right side. It was erected between 1881 and 1894 and serves as an important historical marker reflecting the transport history of the area.
