Description
Arbury Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from 1641, with alterations and extensions made in the 18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed of brick with flush sandstone quoins on the right crosswing and features a stone-slate roof that is covered in felt. The building has two storeys and three rooms at the front, including one in the crosswing and two in the left wing. There is a 20th-century lean-to porch at the former lobby entrance located in the corner of the left wing. The front has four 19th-century wooden casement windows and one enlarged 20th-century wooden casement window. Inside, there are former back-to-back inglenooks that have been altered, situated below a ridge chimney on the inner wall of the crosswing. The left wing has a flush gable chimney, and the gable of the crosswing features projecting bricks arranged in a diaper pattern. The central room contains two stopped ovolo beams, while the kitchen, which is the front room in the crosswing, has one stopped ovolo beam and one roughly chamfered beam.
