Description
Church House Farmhouse, also known as Church Farmhouse, is a former farmhouse dating from the early 17th century that has undergone significant alterations. The building is pebbledashed, likely over an oak frame, and features a concrete tile roof that was originally made of stone slates. It is two storeys high with two windows and a central door. The windows and door have been renewed in their original openings. There is a large projecting gable chimney on the left and a longitudinal chimney flush with the gable on the right. The roof is double-pile, with the rear pile slated.
Inside, the right front parlour includes two ovolo beams, which also cross the later-formed hall, and an ingle-nook with a small fire-window. There are fixed oak settles, likely from the early 17th century, and mid-18th century oak panelling. The left front room features a door with six raised panels and an open stone fireplace with chamfered sides. There is one altered beam in the rear right room and an altered stair. The right front bedroom has an open stone fireplace with chamfered sides, located above the ingle-nook in the lower storey, and includes a closet or prayer-room on each side with oak-framed walls. Some internal walls are also oak-framed, and there are wide-boarded doors throughout.
