Description
Woodhead Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and has a slate roof. The building is three storeys tall and has four bays, with the end bay being recessed and two storeys high, topped with a flag roof. The farmhouse features a stone base and quoins. The windows are designed with chamfered mullions and transoms, with the ground floor windows consisting of three lights and transoms. The first floor has a combination of three, two, and three-light windows with transoms, while the end bay has a three-light window. The second floor also features three, two, and three-light windows.
The entrance, located in the second bay, has an elliptical head with a Gibbs surround and is accompanied by a 20th-century timber and glass porch. There are brick stacks at both ends of the building, and the rear exhibits scattered fenestration. Inside, there is an 18th-century staircase, wide-boarded doors on the second floor, and chamfered beams. It is said that the farmhouse bears the initials "M B" and the date 1774, although these have not been found. Some fireplaces on the first floor are now boarded up.
