Description
The Hall, located on Church Lane in Grappenhall, is a parish hall built around 1840. It is constructed of brown brick in Flemish bond and features a gabled grey slate roof. The front facade is divided into six panels by plain brick pilasters and a projecting band under the eaves. The rightmost panel has double doors, each consisting of two panels, topped by a square fixed light with twelve panes. The next three panels each contain a twelve-pane recessed sash window. The fifth panel features double framed and boarded doors, while the left panel has a stage door accessed by external steps, which is in an altered opening. The door and window openings are adorned with gauged brick flat arches. There is a small 20th-century slate-roofed lean-to against the right gable wall. In front of the Hall, low stone walls are attached to the building by returns at the sides of the entrances, and there is a pair of cast iron gates that are contemporary with the Hall, set on plain stone gatepiers at the right entrance. Inside, the Hall features king-post trusses, a gallery at the right end, and a stage at the left end. The Hall is listed for its group value.
