Description

Church Lane Bridge is a road bridge over the Bridgewater Canal, built around 1770 by James Brindley. It is constructed of red-brown brick with red sandstone dressings. The bridge features a deep segmental arch made of brick voussoirs, supported by a plain projecting stone band on stone springers. The abutments are curved and battered, and the stepped brick parapets have plain flush stone copings.
