Description
The Coach House at The Nook is an early 19th-century building made of brown brick with a slate roof. It is two stories tall and has a three-bay gabled range located on the east side of the forecourt to The Nook, with a small single-story cross range projecting from the right end, featuring a central ridge stack. The front of the coach house includes a carriage doorway with a segmental brick arch in the left bay, stone hinge blocks set in the jambs, and double vertical board doors with strap hinges. On the ground floor to the right, there are two casements with glazing bars, and on the first floor to the left, there are two similar casements. The left gable end wall has a ground floor casement and a bull's eye window with bars in a stone frame above it. There is an external entrance doorway to the first floor in the right gable wall behind the cross-wing, which is accessed by a flight of stone steps and features a vertical board door with a casement with bars to the left. The cross-range is likely built as a wash-house and includes a small top-hung casement with a segmental arched head in the end gable wall. The coach house and its wing are listed for their group value with The Nook.
