Description

These are a pair of cottages dating from the late 18th century, constructed of lime-washed brick with a slate roof. They are two storeys high, with a single bay each, and feature front gables. Each cottage has a horizontal sliding sash window on each floor, with a Gothic label course above the windows, the upper windows being set within the gabled fronts. Number 38 has a boarded door, while Number 40 features a panelled door, both now set within small, modern porches. The roof is covered in large slates, topped with a sandstone ridge and a central cluster of three octagonal brick chimneys.
