Description
Nos 32 and 34 on Town Lane are a pair of red brick cottages dating from the late 17th century, with some alterations made in the early 19th century. They are built in English Garden Wall Bond and are single storey with an attic. The cottages have a single storey rear linked outbuilding that forms a 'T' shape in plan. The cottages feature a rendered plinth and gable ends, and the old slate roof has diminished courses with a sandstone ridge.
There are three gable half-dormers on the roof, and heavy label courses sit above three ground floor flush casement windows. The entrance doors are two replacement ledged and battened doors with strap hinges. The attic windows are horizontal sliding sashes. The outbuilding associated with No 34 has been altered, but No 32 still retains its slate roof with the sandstone ridge. Some timber eaves gutter remains at the rear.
Inside No 32, there is a cottage staircase, ledged and battened doors with wrought iron H hinges, one Jacobean style two-panelled door, and exposed main roof timbers.
