Description

The Wayside Pulpit to the Church of St. Mary was built around 1910 by the architectural firm Austin and Paley. This octagonal pulpit is made of red sandstone ashlar and is set into the boundary wall of St. Mary's Church. It is accessed by six steps. Similar to the church, the pulpit features a religious text carved into its stone, which reads: "Go out into the highways and compel them to come in that my house may be filled."
