Description

The Church of All Saints is a parish church built in 1849 by Salvin. It is constructed from rock-faced red sandstone and features a slate roof. The church has a five-bay nave in the lancet style, with aisles and a chancel that has been reduced in both width and height. At the south-west corner of the nave stands a square tower topped with a stone octagonal spire. The tower includes corner buttresses, large louvred lancets at the bell stage, and lucarnes on all faces of the spire. The entrances in the nave gable and the adjoining tower are in the lancet style, flanked by shafts, and feature oak boarded doors with strap hinges. The windows are lancet-shaped, paired in the nave, and there is a quatrefoil design in the clerestorey, with much stained glass present. Both the chancel and nave are adorned with cross finials and pinnacles on the gables.

Inside, the church features square angled columns with pulvinated faces and foliated capitals that support the five-bay gothic aisle arcades. The organ chamber and War Memorial Chapel are located to the north and south of the chancel. The altar and rail are made of marble, and the chancel contains several high-quality marble and alabaster wall monuments dedicated to the Brooke family of Norton Priory. Both the chancel and nave have arch-braced collar and king post trusses, which are supported on carved head corbels.
