Description
No. 71 High Street is a late 18th century town house constructed of red brick with a slate roof. The building is 2½ storeys tall and features three bays, with a one-bay wing that is set back to the east and is two storeys high. It has a stone plinth and a stone Tuscan doorcase with an open pediment, which frames a six-panel door that has sunk upper panels and a patterned arched fanlight above. There are stone bands at the first floor and second floor window sill levels, as well as an eaves cornice. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, although the ones in the central bay above the entrance are false. The entrance in the eastern single bay section has a Gothic head. The roof is hipped.
