Description

The Parish Library, originally known as the Chesshyre Library, is a building dating from 1730, commissioned by Sir John Chesshyre. It is constructed of stone with a slate roof and consists of one storey and two bays. The entrance features a door with four fielded panels set within a stone doorcase that has Ionic columns and a triangular pediment with a raised segmental apex. The building has arched windows with glazing bars, a cornice, and a solid parapet, along with stone gables and a chimney. The interior has been altered and repaired in 1975, resulting in it being of no particular interest. The library now serves as a Committee Room for the new linked Church Hall.
