Description
The East and West Cottages attached to the Village Hall are former farmhouses dating from 1718, with 20th-century alterations. They are built of orange brick in English garden wall bond, topped with a Welsh slate roof and featuring a single ridge brick chimney. The cottages have a two-storey, five-bay front, with a brick band at the first floor and a brick dentil cornice. The windows are two-light wooden casements with glazing bars. The second bay includes a two-storey gabled porch, which has an elliptically-arched brick head leading to a board door. Above the door is a diamond-shaped plaque inscribed with PJW, representing Peter and Jane Newport, dated 1718. The door in the fourth bay is a 20th-century addition. The interior has not been inspected. The cottages are almost identical to Long Green Farmhouse in Long Green, Barrow.
