Description
Bridgewater House is a late 17th-century house with early 19th-century additions and alterations. It is constructed of grey chip and rendered stone, with a Welsh slate roof and two brick chimneys. Originally designed with a 2-room gable-entry plan, the house now presents a nearly symmetrical 3-bay facade. The end bays feature horned 16-pane sash windows, while the central bay contains a wooden doorcase with moulded jambs and consoles, enclosing a 6-panelled door. Inside, the original entrance is marked by a heck post and a restored inglenook. Notable interior features include chamfered ceiling beams and a good oak dogleg staircase with twisted balusters, a moulded handrail, and square newels. 4-panelled, grained doors from the 19th century are also present. A single-storey shop projecting from the right-hand side is not part of the listing.
