Description

Budworth Heath Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1700, with some alterations. It is constructed of English garden wall bond brown brick and has stone slate roofs, although these have largely been replaced with grey slate. The building is two storeys plus an attic and features a symmetrical three-window main block with a right wing that is two storeys high and has one window.

There is a three-storey porch with a door made up of three vertical panels set in a heavy frame. The front windows have been replaced but remain in their original openings on the first and second storeys, while there is an enlarged casement window from the late 20th century in the attic. Each storey has iron casements on either side of the porch, and one on each storey in the right wing. The openings feature gauged brick flat arches. The farmhouse has flush chimneys on each gable of the main block and on the gable of the right wing, with one chimney altered above ridge level. There are two small attic windows, one of which is blocked, in the left gable. Only the front slope of the right wing retains its stone slates.

Inside, there is an open fire in the right front room with an inserted bressumer, a three-panel inner door leading to the porch, stop-chamfered oak beams, and an oak dogleg newel stair that has no balusters.
