Description
Tollemache Farmhouse is a late 17th-century farmhouse with 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of orange brick in Flemish and English bond and has a Welsh slate roof with one central ridge chimney. The building has an L-shaped, lobby-entry plan and features a symmetrical three-bay east front that is two stories high. A stepped brick band runs along the first floor.
The central projecting two-storey porch has a stone-coped gable supported by kneelers. The entrance features a cambered gauged and rubbed brick head with a heavily studded board door from the 19th century, complete with iron strap hinges. Above the entrance is a blocked window. The end bays have three-light wooden casements set under low segmental brick heads, with blocked windows above. The gable ends are also stone-coped and kneelered.
Although the interior was not inspected, a provisional list notes a deep inglenook fireplace in the room to the right and an 18th-century mantel in the room to the left. There is a staircase with a close string and turned balusters. In front of the house, there is a five-step stone mounting block that includes a dog kennel.
