Description
Brook House Farmhouse is a mid-16th century farmhouse with a 19th-century addition and fenestration. It features a timber frame on a stone base, with the extension made of rendered stone. The roof is covered with Welsh slate and has one ridge and one gable brick chimney. The building has a lobby entry and a two-room plan, standing two stories tall with a four-bay front, of which the right three bays are original. The framing is tall and small, with a middle rail and angle bracing to the sills. There is a jetty at the first floor supported by brackets. The end bays and the central 20th-century door are fitted with two and three-light wooden casements, and there is a small light above the door. The extension to the left also has similar windows. On the right end, there is a flight of stone steps leading to a former granary, which has a four-board door with iron strap hinges. The interior has not been fully inspected, but exposed ceiling beams and joists are visible, and a wide inglenook fireplace has been reported.
