Description
Elm Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a private house. It dates from the 17th century, with significant remodeling in the 19th century and a 20th-century addition. The building is constructed of stone and brown brick, featuring a stone plinth and a first-floor band, along with flush quoins. It has a slate roof with three chimneys.
The exterior is two storeys high with an attic and has a three-bay front, plus an additional bay on the right. The entrance features a replacement boarded door, which is sheltered by a 20th-century porch supported by two columns and topped with a flat hood. The windows are replacement flush casements, with two and three lights, and the ground floor windows include transoms. A dentil eaves course adds detail to the roofline.
Inside, there is an inglenook fireplace with a curved firebeam, along with chamfered ceiling beams and exposed joists. The layout suggests a former baffle entry plan, indicated by the position of the fireplace and a stone wing wall.
