Description
The White House is a late 17th-century farmhouse, later adapted for use as a shop, and now a private house. It was altered in the 19th century and restored in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of whitewashed brick with a stone plinth, and has a slate roof with stacks on the ridge and at the right end.
The exterior is a two-storey, four-bay facade. It features a wide, replacement boarded door. Most windows are 19th-century, two-light flush casements with transoms and glazing bars to the ground floor, and one or two horizontal glazing bars to the first floor. A later window on the first floor at the right end has three lights.
The interior retains exposed chamfered beams, an inglenook firebeam, and a cottage staircase. Remains of cruck and timbers are visible within the walls. An old boarded door is also present.
