Description
Plessington Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations from the 19th century and a late 20th-century extension. The exterior features whitened roughcast on brick, an old slate roof, and a gable end stack. It is a single storey with an attic and has a three-bay original front, with a one-bay extension to the left that is slightly set back and two storeys high. The front door is framed, ledged, and braced. The original building has replacement two- and three-light flush casement windows, with those on the upper floor located in gabled dormers. The extension includes three-light windows. Inside, there are exposed softwood ceiling joists. The cottage is built next to a four-bay cottage with an old slate roof, which is not of special interest. Plessington Cottage is listed for its group value and is situated on a sandstone outcrop with stone steps leading down to street level.
