Description
Church Cottage is a pair of cottages that have been combined into one dwelling, dating back to the 17th century with later alterations. The building is constructed of sandstone and brown brick, topped with a stone slate roof featuring coped gables and two brick chimneys.
The exterior consists of two storeys and five bays. The left side has a high stone plinth made from bedrock, with brickwork above. It features two flush casement windows on the ground floor, each with a deep stone lintel and a single horizontal glazing bar. Above these, on the first floor, is a similar window directly above a half-glazed boarded door, which is now sealed and has a stone lintel above it.
The right side of the building has three bays with 2-light flush casement windows, although the rightmost window replaces a former door, and steps cut into the bedrock still remain. The entrance door to the cottage is now located at the rear. Inside, the cottage retains exposed beams and ceiling joists.
