Description
Rose Farm is a cottage that was formerly a farmhouse, dating from the 17th century and altered over time. It features oak small framing with plaster and brick panels, while the rear has been rebuilt in brick and is topped with a steep grey slate roof. The building has two storeys and two windows. The former lobby-entrance doorway has been blocked, and the timber casements have been replaced, although they are likely in largely unaltered openings. There are braces below the eaves and a brick ridge chimney. At the back, there is a small two-storey wing that was formerly a dairy, which is cased in brick and likely dates from the late 18th century.
Inside, the layout follows a lobby-entrance plan, with the doorway moved to the right gable wall. The staircase was replaced in the late 20th century. There are two back-to-back inglenooks made of red sandstone, each featuring oak bressumers. Additionally, each front room has a chamfered oak main beam.
