Description
Greengates is a house built around 1840. It features Flemish bond orange brick with stone dressings, a stone-slate roof, and two brick chimneys. The building has a double pile plan and is two stories high with a symmetrical three-bay front. It includes a stone cornice and blocking course. The end bays project slightly forward and have recessed semi-circular headed sash windows with glazing bars below, along with cast-iron baskets adorned with palmettes on the sills. Above are 12-pane sashes with flat gauged and rubbed brick heads. The central bay boasts a heavy Doric porch supported by half fluted columns, leading to a door with glazed panels and a fanlight featuring vertical glazing bars. The gables are stone-coped. There is a small 20th-century extension to the right.
