Description
Broxton Old Hall is a hall built around 1600, which has been extended at the sides and rear and heavily restored, partly by John Douglas in 1873. The building features an oak frame with plaster panels and stone-slate roofs adorned with ornate bargeboards and finials, along with chimneys that have detached diagonal flues. The central original part of the front has two gables, with wings that are recessed to the left and projecting to the right, each featuring one gable. The hall is two storeys tall, with a small frame that has quadrant braces in the centrepiece and right wing, and herringbone bracing in the left wing. The upper storey and gables are slightly jettied. The bressumers are carved, likely from the 19th century. There is a gabled porch that is almost central, with a replaced boarded door made of oak. The windows are also made of oak, with those on the lower storey being mullioned and transomed, while the upper storey has mullioned windows; all windows have restored leaded glazing.
