Description
Eccleston Lodge is a lodge built in 1894 by Douglas & Fordham, designed in an asymmetrical Jacobethan style. The lower storey is made of coursed ashlar yellow sandstone, while the upper storey features diapered red brick. It has a green Westmorland slate gabled roof with two shaped brick chimneys; one has recessed vertical bands and the other has clustered moulded circular flue stacks. A shallow recessed central porch has a basket arch beneath a corbelled timber-framed gable, which is adorned with heavily carved bargeboards and a tie beam. The left end gable is corbelled and oak-framed, also featuring richly carved bargeboards and a tie beam. There is an octagonal turret at the right corner topped with a squat spire and a weathervane on a shaped lead finial. The lodge has ornate mullioned windows, with stone in the lower storey and oak in the upper storey. Above the porch, the words "Grosvenor Arms" are carved in stone. The interior has not been inspected.
