Description
The Stud Stables are a pair of two-storey stable buildings, built before 1870, that form a T-shape and include haylofts in the upper storey. The walls are made of sandstone, and there is a half-timbered gable facing the loose yard. The west wing has a red tile roof, while the south wing features a roof replaced with red Roman tiles. The east wing is covered with graded grey slate. The stables have loading doors for the haylofts, stable doors, sliding casements, and hoppers. This building is a simple yet complete example of a stud stable. In 1870, John Douglas proposed an ambitious rebuilding of the stables, but this plan was never carried out.
