Description

Picton Lane Bridge is a bridge built around 1795 over the Shropshire Union (Ellesmere) Canal. It follows the canal company's standard design for minor road bridges. The bridge is constructed of brown brick in English bond and features an arch that is slightly more than a semi-ellipse. There is a two-course plain brick band at road level and plain near-flush sandstone coping on the parapet. The abutments have a marked batter. In the later 20th century, the bridge was converted to a footbridge when a separate road bridge was constructed.
