Description

Stoak Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that has been altered. It is constructed of rendered brick with slate roofs; the left-hand wing has a steeply pitched roof, while the right-hand wing has corrugated sheeting and a catslide roof. The left-hand wing is two storeys with attics and has two windows featuring small-paned iron casements. The right-hand wing, originally a cheese loft, also has two storeys, with small-paned iron casements on the ground floor and metal casements on the first floor. The front door, leading into the left-hand wing, has been replaced. Chimneys are located at the right gable and at the rear of the left wing. The interior includes stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, ledge and batten doors of three boards—one featuring decorative iron hinges—and a parlour inglenook. A doorway between the parlours of the left-hand wing has panelled oak jambs and a good classical architrave with horns.
