Description
Westage Farmhouse and the adjoining shippon are a farmhouse and shippon built in the late 17th century, with later alterations. The structure features oak small framing, with gable ends rebuilt in brick and a clay tile roof. It has one and a half storeys, consisting of two rooms in the house and a one-bay shippon, reflecting a longhouse design. A 19th-century oak-framed gabled porch, following the Arley estate pattern, is present. The shippon's roof has been raised to connect with the house roof, and a high-level window has been added above the former wall-plate. A catslide outshut has been added at the rear. The outer door has been replaced, and there are wood casements. A corbelled chimney is located on the left gable, with a ridge chimney positioned between the right room and the shippon. Inside, the left room contains two ash beams, while the right room features a boxed-in beam. The shippon has oak purlins located beneath the current roof level.
