Description

Stanthorne Weir and Bridge is a structure located over the River Wheelock, built around 1850. It is constructed from red and black brick in engineering bond, featuring stone dressings. The bridge has a round arch made of brick voussoirs, with concave retaining walls on either side that end in square piers at both ends. The stone coping adds to its design. The weir includes a canted waterfall on the upriver side of the bridge.
