Description

Newton Hall is a house dating from the mid-18th century, constructed of red-brown brick in Flemish bond on the front, topped with a graded grey slate roof. The building has two storeys and features a symmetrical three-window left wing, which is attached to No. 5 Park Road (Newton Old Hall). There is a projecting two-window cross-wing on the left side. The door, which was boarded up during a survey in June 1985, is set in a Tuscan pedimented case. The windows are boarded-up 12-pane recessed sashes with wedge lintels and projecting stone cills. The front has a dentilled cornice, while the left end and rear have a simpler cornice. There is a flush right gable chimney and a ridge chimney at the junction of the wings, along with a lateral chimney on the right side of the rear of the cross-wing. The cross-wing has a canted rear end. The interior was not inspected as it was in the early stages of repair.
