Description

No. 64 on St Ann's Road is a house dating from the late 17th century, with a 19th-century bay window on the left. It features Flemish bond brown brickwork and a grey slate roof, standing two storeys plus an attic. The building has brick quoins and a moulded brick band at the first floor. The entrance includes a 6-pane door set in a camber-arched case influenced by the Tuscan style, accessed by two stone steps. On the right side, there are 4-pane casements in camber-arched openings with shaped keystones, while the left side has canted two-storey bay windows with stone mullions, cills, and lintel-bands. Above the doorway, there is another 4-pane casement in a camber-arched opening with an ornate keystone, and the attic features two gabled dormers with leaded casements. The house has projecting gable chimneys.

Inside, the framed newel stair has turned balusters and a carved string. The ground floor includes 6-panel doors with segmental heads; the right room has a large inglenook with a blocked fire window, while the left room exhibits Victorian characteristics. The first floor has 4-panel doors with large lower and upper panels and a pair of small panels in between. The attic contains broad-board doors with original latches, original casement openings with catches for the dormer windows, and a leaded window at the rear. The doors retain their original hinges.
