Description

This building, located 30 meters west of Puddington Old Hall, is a former stable and dovecote, dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed from irregularly coursed sandstone blocks and some orange brick in English garden wall bond, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan and features a 1 and 2-storey, 3-bay east front. On the left end, there is a board door and a 9-pane window, along with some ventilation slots. The central section has an inserted door and a similar window. The right end bay is taller and features a gable, with a door and a loading bay above it. There are three holes for a pigeon loft above, and a line of ventilation slots is present at the rear. Inside, the right end contains the dovecote, which has two tiers of nest boxes with brick ledges on all four sides. The building is listed for its group value.
