Description
The footpath guidepost at the junction of Pipers Lane, opposite the White House, dates from the late 19th century. It is made of cast iron and features a slightly tapering, octagonal shaft that stands on a plinth. The shaft is inscribed with plain raised letters that read "WIRRAL FOOTPATHS ETC. PRESERVATION SOCIETY BY PERMISSION OF THE COUNCIL." At the top, there is a moulded cap and a ball finial, along with a single repaired finger plate that has nicked corners. This finger plate bears the inscription "PUBLIC FOOTPATH" in raised plain letters, with "To Chester - Parkgate Road" painted below.
