Description
The footpath guidepost at the junction with Parkgate Road is a late 19th century to early 20th century structure. It features a cast-iron, slightly tapering octagonal shaft set on a plinth. The shaft has an inscription in raised letters that reads, "ERECTED BY THE WIRRALL FOOTPATHS SOCIETY BY CONSENT OF THE COUNTY COUNCIL PLEASE KEEP TO THE FOOTPATH." At the top, there is a moulded cap with a ball finial, which supports a single finger plate with nicked corners. This finger plate displays the words "PUBLIC FOOTPATH" in raised letters, with "TO WELSH ROAD" painted below.
